Third-party data verification

Building performance standards require verified benchmarking data. What sets us apart is ordinance-specific expertise: we verify the data against the exact program your building must comply with, and we have the accredited professionals to sign off.

Data verification is more than a stamp

With our ordinance expertise we do not just verify the data. We find benchmarking improvements along the way, which saves building owners money and reduces fines.

Accreditation

Compliance Experts is recognized as an official ENERGY STAR Partner and employs both Certified Energy Managers (CEM) and Professional Engineers (PE), the credentials required for third-party data verification.

Penalties

Each ordinance can fine a building for not submitting annual benchmarking or missing its verification deadline. Energize Denver assesses $2,000 per violation. Failure to resolve or pay a citation can result in a lien on the property.

When verification is required

Energize Denver requires third-party data verification of benchmarking data, first due with the June 1, 2026 submission and again in 2033. Verification is also required for gross floor area changes, baseline year changes, and target adjustments, including facility type changes, timeline extensions, and custom EUI targets. Gross floor area analysis and compliance plans often start here.

Checklists

We produce the third-party data verification checklists the city requires and submit all target adjustments on your behalf.
